PAG Workshop – How to make a Good Speech 'Good'!

How do we know when a speech is a good speech?

That’s a really good question. It usually doesn’t involve much more than a “That was really good” whisper to someone sitting nearby; it would be a struggle to determine exactly why the speech was so good. There just aren’t a lot of measures.

This workshop will show you what you can use to measure a speech and how you could deliver a speech that is REALLY “GOOD!”

Talis WONG DTM is a Certified Global NLP (Neuro-Linguistics Programming) Trainer and a Distinguished Toastmaster.  He is the District Trainer of Toastmasters International (2002-2003), public speaking coach of HKUST (Dual Degree Programme in Technology and Management), and the Honorary Advisor of the China Enterprise Trainers Association Foundation. He is also the Division H&K Advisor of District 80.

Talis specializes in communication training, including presentation and performance, impromptu speaking training, MC training, sales and persuasion training, negotiation skills training, image grooming and personal charisma workshops, business applications of NLP, and NLP for personal development.

Talis has also been modulator, facilitator, and master of ceremony for conferences, events, functions for various organizations.  He was trainer and judge for the year 2005 and 2006 Hong Kong Master of Ceremonies Contest organized by the Hong Kong Jaycettes, trainer and judge of the Standard Chartered Hong Kong English Public Speaking Contest 2006, 2007 and 2008, and guest speaker trainer for the 2008 Distinguished Salesperson Award Contest organized by the Hong Kong Management Association.  He was speaker at District 51 Conventions on “Romance with Words” and “The Magic of Shakespeare on Effective Presentation” and speaker at Disctrict 80 Convention on “Be a Charismatic Leader”.

He is also director and training consultant of his own training centre, the DD Centre.

Toastmasters Shanghai Convention and Shanghai World Expo in May 2010

Dear Toastmasters peers,

Did you participate in 2 world-class carnivals in the same place and week? I bet you didn’t. We have a chance to experience it in May 2010. The Shanghai Toastmasters Convention will take place from 7 May (Fri) to 9 May (Sun). Simultaneously, the Shanghai World Expo will be in place at the same time. The World Expo has 24 exhibition halls, which encompasses all major contemporary cultures. I am sure it will be lots of fun.

Not only will Ed Tate, World Public Speaking Champion in 2000, be a keynote speaker, but there will also be 10+ communication and leadership workshops to join. An amazing function!

This year, seats are allocated on first-come-first serve basis, which means those who paid in earlier periods can opt front-row seats. Besides, because of the World-Expo, hotel and flight prices will rise rapidly. Price will rise 50% from Jan to May, when the World-Expo starts. Therefore, please act early to buy tickets, reserve flights and book hotel. Do motivate your club members as well!

Details of seats, transportation, flight, hotel, Asia World Expo and etc. are on the following websites:

http://www.chinatoastmasters.org/2010-may-shanghai-conference

http://achievetogether.blog.sohu.com/#tp_98ee554892

Let your member pay early and get their tickets ASAP. Attached also are the promotion and registration process materials. Let me know should you require further assistance.

Regards,

Andrew Wong
